Stan Kappers regards healthcare as the most caring and meaningful line of work that one can consider. He has spent more than 33 years working at Ohio Living, and currently, he serves as the executive director at Ohio Living Mount Pleasant.

“The most rewarding aspect of my vocation is the ability to make a positive impact in the daily lives of our residents, families and teammates,” Stan offered. “I enjoy the opportunity to build meaningful connections with those that I work with and those that I work for. I especially enjoy supporting our team as they care for, assist and support residents each day with the important work that they do.”

Stan’s tenure with Ohio Living started in 1991, when he was hired to be the administrator of Ohio Living Dorothy Love in Sidney, Ohio. Ten years later, he transitioned to Ohio Living Mount Pleasant in Monroe, Ohio, and has spent the past 23 years as the community’s executive director.

For those considering a career in healthcare, Stan suggested, “Consider a job shadow in the areas you are interested in to find the best fit for you. Rest assured, the healthcare field will continue to grow, to help meet the needs of our ever-increasing aging population.”

Stan added, “Many in our field began in entry-level roles and moved up through internal promotions. You may want to consider volunteering or gaining a part-time job or internship opportunity to gain relevant experience in the area you’re most interested in.”

On the home front, Stan is married to Lori, his bride of more than 33 years, and the pair has three boys, Jarred, Noah and Aaron, as well as two goldendoodles, Ziva and Zoey. Spending time with his church family, working out, reading and hiking with his wife top the list of Stan’s favorite hobbies.

Soon, Stan and Lori will be first-time grandparents, as Jarred and his wife, Chloe, are having a baby girl in March 2025. Shortly thereafter, in April 2025, they anticipate welcoming a second granddaughter from their son, Noah, and his wife, Eliana.
