For five years and counting, Chloe has put her heart and soul into supporting residents at Ohio Living Mount Pleasant. She joined the team in 2018 as an aide, and after graduating from nursing school, was promoted to LPN in 2020. While she took a brief hiatus away from Ohio Living in 2022, she rejoined the team earlier this year.
Chloe’s department provides direct care for all Ohio Living Mount Pleasant residents. She feels that often, the strongest impact comes from being intentional with the little things. “I like to learn our residents’ individual routines, so that they can feel the most comfortable when I am caring for them,” explained Chloe. “I also make a concentrated effort to build rapport with their family members.”
“Relating to the family members of our residents is really important to me,” she elaborated. “I am extremely close to my family, and I aim to foster relational connections and build trust with everyone. It makes me feel good when family members say things like, ‘Oh, good. You are mom/dad’s nurse today.’ Honestly, nothing makes me feel better than ensuring the family knows that their loved ones are being well cared for.”
For those thinking of entering the healthcare field, Chloe encourages high measures of compassion and empathy. “You are going to have good and bad days, but don’t let the bad ever outweigh all the good,” she stresses. “Never be afraid to ask questions either. Some days will test you, but just take a step back and breathe – you’ll make it through!”
Being a caretaker has long been a personal passion of Chloe’s. Right out of high school, she lived with her grandparents and assisted with their care. In fact, it was this experience that led her to a nursing career. In her free time, she enjoys playing video games, baking, thrifting, hanging out with friends and collecting oddities. She is also a proud cat mom to three fur babies, Gemini, Toast and Sage.
