Long-standing friendships dating back to high school are just one of the many things that make Abbie beloved at Ohio Living Mount Pleasant. For 9+ years, she has spent quality time with our residents in culinary, STNA and nursing roles, and currently, she works as an LPN.
“I love that at Ohio Living Mount Pleasant, there is a place for everyone,” said Abbie. “As time progresses, we have a unit that will provide each resident with the level of care they need at that time, whether it be a short time stay in rehab to build their strength back up, or a more permanent residence like assisted living or long-term care.”
In her LPN role, Abbie floats around across campus, to help residents in all levels of care. “I feel like I make a difference just by being a familiar face to residents that have transferred areas, for example, from assisted living to rehab. I have known a lot of the them since high school, and they have shared that having a ‘friend’ like me around eases the anxiety associated with their move.”
Outside of her day job, Abbie attends nursing school and is working toward her RN certification. She loves to be creative and especially enjoys baking, painting, crafting and scrapbooking.
For those considering a career in healthcare, Abbie advised, “Healthcare careers can be very emotionally taxing, but they’re even more rewarding because of the relationships we build with the residents. You really grow to care for them and think of them as your own family.”
