Bringing new life to the adage that “first impressions count,” Melaine leads the way as a receptionist at Ohio Living Quaker Heights. She started her tenure with the activities team, and four years later, enjoys interacting with residents and their families in her current role.
“No day is the same for me,” Melaine explained. “I answer phones, open mail, answer questions and assist with lots of different projects. I love talking to the residents and meeting all kinds of different people throughout the day. Sometimes, I think of my job as the information desk! Most people who stop by my desk need information, and I try to remember that I am the first person they may interact with. First impressions count!”
Melaine appreciates the “small town” feel of Ohio Living Quaker Heights, and believes the campus is an integral part of the Waynesville community. She elaborated, “Families that come here find pleasure in keeping their loved one is the area where they lived. The sense of belonging here is comforting, as their loved ones go through a difficult transition.”
Melaine continued, “If you enjoy helping others and making a difference, the healthcare field could be a great fit. I think it requires commitment and is not for a casual jobseeker, because serving others is a way of life.”
On a personal note, Melaine loves walking and spending time outdoors in nature. She also finds joy in decorating, learning new dishes and helping disadvantaged families in her neighborhood. Notably, she’s the proud mother of three adult children, three grandchildren and two small dogs.
