October 2024 Resident Spotlight: Bob & Susan Anderson

Brought together by faith, Bob and Susan Anderson have trusted the Lord throughout their beautiful marriage. In 1977, Bob was ordained as a Presbyterian minister, and he met Susan in Pittsburgh, while he was working for the Presbyterian Church.

At the time, Susan owned a Celtic store in a nearby neighborhood, and Bob was a frequent visitor, because of the Celtic connection to his Presbyterian faith heritage…or so he said. Susan’s mother suspected he was more interested in her than the store, and mother knows best! The two ended up pursing a relationship and ultimately getting married.

For more than 47 years, Bob served as a pastor and seminary instructor, even working as an on-air broadcast personality for radio and TV stations in Boston and New York. Susan held several jobs in education and end-of-life care, along with being a small business owner. Together, they have five children, which they homeschooled, fourteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

When the couple was asked for good words or advice to live by, they emphasized Proverbs 3:5-6 as their life verse. “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways, submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.”

Bob and Susan love living at Ohio Living Mount Pleasant because they enjoy living in a community with great friends and lots of social activities. They advise moving in sooner rather than later to enjoy all the tremendous offerings on campus!
