When Bonnie Quist retired from full-time work, the idea of giving back took on new meaning. With a lifelong belief in service and learning, and a growing interest in understanding the aging process, Bonnie was drawn to Ohio Living Sarah Moore in Delaware. That connection soon led to service on the Ohio Living Foundation Board.
“As an aging adult myself, learning more about senior living and available resources was becoming increasingly important to me,” Bonnie shared. “Ohio Living Sarah Moore allowed me to both share my experience and grow my understanding.”
Shortly after joining the advisory board, Bonnie was invited to serve on the Ohio Living Foundation Board. While acknowledging some early assumptions about senior living communities, those views shifted quickly.
“After just one board meeting and hearing from the CEO and executive leadership, my perspective completely changed,” said Bonnie. “Their vision for senior living was innovative, forward-looking and truly energizing.”
What resonates most with Bonnie is the sense of hope Ohio Living provides to older adults across Ohio.
“Ohio Living offers hope for today and for the future,” Bonnie explained. “Hope to live fully during this stage of life. The Ohio Living Foundation plays an important role in supporting that mission, and I am proud to be part of it.”
Bonnie also values the creativity of Ohio Living’s leadership and the genuine care shown by staff throughout the organization. That commitment became personal when she and their husband experienced Ohio Living Home Health & Hospice services firsthand.
“Being on the receiving side of Ohio Living’s care was a true blessing,” Bonnie added. “The nursing and therapy teams provided exceptional support for several months, and it reinforced my belief in the quality of this organization.”
Outside of board service, Bonnie enjoys traveling throughout the United States and internationally, with visits to countries such as Norway, Sweden, Iceland, Romania, Poland, Dubai and Oman, along with Canada and Mexico. Reading, walking, gardening and participating in church ministry activities are also favorite pastimes. A Master Gardener with the Delaware Master Gardeners Association, Bonnie finds inspiration in both nature’s smallest details and its grand landscapes.
“I am honored to support an organization that truly cares for older adults,” emphasized Bonnie. “Ohio Living is helping redefine what aging can look like, and I am grateful to play a small part in that work.”
