As the independent living activity coordinator at Ohio Living Mount Pleasant, Lisa has spent the past 10 years helping residents make memories and check items off their bucket lists.

“The rewards are unreal,” Lisa emphasized.

Lisa knew from a young age that she wanted to work in activities. At 13, after visiting a nursing home on a school field trip, she told her mother, “I want to work in a nursing home when I am old enough to work. I want to do activities. My days would be full of life and laughter!”

It took 50 years for Lisa to find that dream job, and it was via a job advertisement Ohio Living Mount Pleasant placed in the newspaper.

Through Lisa’s efforts, residents enjoy daily exercise programs, outings to restaurants, museums and concerts, as well as live music, the Red Hat Ladies Club, pottery, painting and more. She also works with the marketing team to create events for prospective residents and helps develop the annual activities flier.

One of Lisa’s favorite interactions happened last summer when a 93-year-old resident noticed a large curly slide at a local swimming pool and said she had always wanted to go down one. Lisa made it happen, and the two went down the slide together, laughing all the way to the bottom.

Outside of work, Lisa is a proud cat mama to Teddy. She has a brother, sister, numerous nieces and nephews, and five great-nieces and great-nephews, whom she calls “the kids I never had.” Lisa also enjoys traveling, reading, boating and dinner with friends.
