Long-Term Care Administrators Week Spotlight: Leyla Zickau

For Leyla Zickau, hospice has always been a personal calling. As Ohio Living Home Health & Hospice – Greater Columbus’s executive director, she oversees both the clinical and operational needs of both service lines. She joined the organization in September 2024.

“I truly enjoy growing and developing teams and individuals, as it directly impacts patient care,” explained Leyla. “To be part of someone’s story at the most vulnerable time of their life is one of the greatest honors.”

She notes that understanding your motivation and “why” is an important part of becoming a fulfilled professional, particularly in the healthcare sector. “Be prepared for change, as healthcare is constantly changing,” she guided. “Flexibility is key. It is also crucial to consistently educate yourself and always remember self-care in a high demand, high-stress health position.”

Beyond work, Leyla has been married for 13 years, and she is the mother of twin nine-year-old daughters, three Bernese Mountain dogs and four rescue cats. Relatedly, her family is working on starting an animal rescue and sanctuary.

Her favorite activities include supporting her daughters’ horseback riding and gymnastics engagements, as well as working out and ballroom dancing. Leyla is also a certified Reiki Master and helps human and animal clients in her spare time.
