Katie has sparked engagement with Ohio Living Cape May residents since 2019 in a variety of different roles on campus. Currently, she organizes and executes activities and encourages residents to join groups, as part of the Activities department. She also works closely with nurses and caregivers to ensure coordinated care.
“The most rewarding thing about being part of the Activities department is interacting with the residents and facilitating activities that make them smile,” explained Katie. “Sometimes just having a conversation with over a cup of coffee can make their day. They really enjoy having company! Our team offers a variety of activities for residents to participate in, as well as special events, and it’s fulfilling to support them all.”
For those interested in pursuing a career in healthcare, Katie believes having empathy and compassion for others is a “must.” She shared, “One must balance the ability to grow attached to our residents, but also, be able to let them go when it's their time.”
On the home front, Katie has been married to her husband, Steve, for 18 years. The couple shares five fur babies, including four dogs and a cat named Pixie. When they’re not walking or playing fetch with their dogs, they enjoy working out in their home gym and watching Ohio State sports. In the summertime, they also love taking their boat out to Caesar's Creek Lake.
