Ohio Living Board Member Spotlight: A.J. Hensel

As a former U.S. Army officer and decorated veteran, A.J. Hensel is all about the mission! Throughout his professional career, he has represented individuals, businesses and local municipalities in civil litigation, risk mitigation and policy initiatives. He also has in-depth litigation experience in both state and federal courts. Presently, he serves as Partner of Ice Miller law firm.

Serving on the Ohio Living Board allows A.J. to leverage his knowledge and experience as a lawyer to actively advocate for the rights and well-being of Ohio’s aging population. A.J. shared, “I consider it an honor and privilege to be part of creating communities where older adults can age with dignity and be cherished for their wisdom.”

Elaborating, A.J. added, “For over 100 years, Ohio Living has promised to care, support and enrich the lives of its residents and communities. I appreciate that Ohio Living is not purely guided by earnings reports, but rather, focused on enhancing the physical, mental and spiritual well-being of its amazing residents.”

A.J. is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point. He served as a U.S. Army officer and was recognized for his exemplary leadership in combat during Operation Iraqi Freedom II with the Bronze Star and Meritorious Service Medal. Following his military tour, he received his Juris Doctorate from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law.

On the home front, A.J. enjoys spending quality time with his wife, Shayla, and their four children, Cooper, Evie, Beckett and Griffin. “There is never a dull moment in the Hensel house, but every day is a blessing,” A.J. shared.
