September 2024 Resident Spotlight: Fred & Carole Potthoff

Ohio Living Mount Pleasant residents Fred and Carole Potthoff know a thing or two about enjoying life. As the story goes, they attended different high schools, and Fred had no interest in taking a girl from his school to the prom. When Carole’s cousin, who was a close friend, suggested he take Carole, he obliged, and they have been together ever since.

The Potthoffs cite “raising children” as their greatest dual accomplishment, and they are proud parents to two girls. For more than 40 years, Fred worked for Hillshire Farm and Kahn’s, while Carole stayed home to raise their family. When the children started school, she started a part-time job with the IRS and later worked as a bank teller. Tragically, their third daughter passed away when she was only five years old.

Now that Fred and Carole are retired, they enjoy playing cards and shuffleboard. They also love residing at Ohio Living Mount Pleasant and recommend others move in sooner than later. “There is so much to do, a great support staff and SO many friends,” they shared. “Try to enjoy every day – life is short!”
