The Ohio Living Silver Heart Award, which originated in 2020, honors best-in-class teammates living our values! At Ohio Living Swan Creek, Kathy was nominated for her innate ability to make everyone feel welcomed, valued and appreciated.
Kathy is a tenured employee who has served as one of the Ohio Living Swan Creek “brunch ladies” for over a decade. It’s been said that she can anticipate residents’ needs before they even sit down at their table.
A leader at the community shared, “Kathy consistently engages with not only the residents, but also, their families, and they know her by name. She is also a huge help with her culinary peers and our Marketing team. She knows exactly what needs to be done to make a strong first impression for our guests. We often get compliments regarding how kind and caring Kathy is.”
Kathy is attentive not only to residents' dining needs, but also their personal needs. With a simple smile, touch on the shoulder and a friendly demeanor, she demonstrates genuine care, empathy and compassion every day.
Another colleague shared, “When a resident or staff member is grieving, Kathy is there to listen to them, and she will often give a warm hug and offer a comforting prayer. If one of her teammates needs a vacation day or if someone calls off, Kathy will cover that shift whenever she can. No request is ever treated as a burden, but instead, an opportunity.”
