Courtney, a social worker with Ohio Living Home Health & Hospice - Greater Columbus, carries a valuable lesson from one of her college professors with her every day: “When it stops being good, it stops getting better.” This guiding principle shapes her approach to life, always striving to make a positive impact.
Courtney joined the Ohio Living Home Health & Hospice - Greater Columbus team three years ago. Her job involves many different responsibilities, but she has found that meeting patients where they are and building rapport is an important foundation to lay.
“I am humbled with all the people that I come in contact with,” she elaborated. “The most rewarding work I can do is to help a family and their loved one walk through grief.”
She’ll never forget one special moment with a patient who requested one last family portrait. After serving as an aide for 40 years, his only wish was to have pictures of his loved ones to hold onto when he could no longer get out of bed. Courtney had the privilege of spending several hours with his family, capturing those precious memories. Two weeks later, he passed peacefully, comforted by the love and memories he had created.
Family is Courtney’s self-described passion, though her husband of 10 years, Brian, might argue it’s Amazon. The couple has a nine-month-old baby girl and four cats. They are also going through the process of adopting their three-year-old foster son.
