Social Work Month Spotlight: Keri K.

Helping patients stay in their home safely for as long as possible is one of the ways Keri, a social worker with Ohio Living Home Health & Hospice - Greater Toledo aims to make a difference.

“I most enjoy helping our veteran patients and encouraging them to get linked with the VA Health Care system,” said Keri. “When I can take an identified need, educate the patient/family on available resources, and help them accept what help is available, I feel accomplished.”

Keri joined the Ohio Living team in September 2024 and encourages others interested in becoming a social worker to pursue a master’s degree, as it opens more doors within the field. Her hobbies include reading, painting and gardening, especially with native plants.

After hours, Keri runs a full house, complete with her daughter and a “mini zoo.” Her daughter, Akayla, is in her senior year at the University of Toledo, where she is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in finance. Five dogs, Moana, Belle, Hank, Pete and Lily, also live with Keri and Akayla, along with two cats, Jay and Luna, and three rabbits, Rachel, Chandler and Phoebe. Fun fact: the rabbits are litter box trained and get to freely hop around the house!
