Social Work Month Spotlight: Kristin M.

"Respecting someone’s autonomy is foundational to social work," explained Kristin, a social worker with Ohio Living Home Health & Hospice - Greater Cleveland. With over seven years of experience, she has dedicated herself to providing peace and comfort to patients, while ensuring they have the necessary resources to maintain their independence and well-being.

When asked what advice she would have for others considering a career in the healthcare field, Kristin shared, “With a social work career, you expend a lot of mental and emotional energy. You must be good at problem solving and setting aside your own preferences to uphold the wishes of your patients. It is important to have good self-care, to recharge your mental and emotional battery and prevent burnout. You can’t fill a cup from an empty pitcher.”

Outside of work, Kristin has been happily married to her husband for nearly 16 years, and together they have a lively four-year-old son. Their family is completed by Lucy, a playful chocolate Labrador. In her free time, Kristin enjoys crocheting and reading.
