Social Work Month Spotlight: Shannon W.

“Everyone has a story, and it is up to us to honor them,” shared Shannon, a social worker with Ohio Living Home Health & Hospice - Greater Akron. Having been with the team since graduating college, she considers it a privilege to be part of people’s journeys during such a sensitive time. “Any amount of peace and comfort I can offer to my patients, their families and my co-workers is how I hope to provide a positive impact every day.”

When asked what advice she would have for others considering a career in the healthcare field, Shannon encouraged, “It is important to remember why you started, and to prioritize taking care of yourself. Also be sure it is within yourself to take care of others.”

Off the clock, Shannon enjoys spending a lot of time outdoors or curled up with a good book. She’s always happy to return home to her dog, Wayne, who loves to cuddle.
