When Dathan walks into the kitchen each morning at Ohio Living Ganzhorn Suites, he brings a commitment to go "above and beyond the standards."
Dathan serves as nutritional coordinator, overseeing kitchen operations and ensuring residents’ dietary needs are met. He joined the community nearly two years ago as a line cook and was promoted to his current role after six months.
"You definitely have to have patience, because some days can get very chaotic and busy," Dathan explained. "You have to know how to manage it well so that the residents and family members never feel your frustrations. Since my first day at the building, it has always felt like a family unit. I’m really appreciative of the whole team."
For Dathan, meals are about more than nutrition. He and his team work to create experiences that residents and their loved ones enjoy. He says the most rewarding part of his job is seeing residents smile after a great meal. His team also supports staff across all shifts and welcomes ideas for new recipes.
Outside of work, Dathan is a father of two sons, Legend, 8, and Dathan Jr., 6. He also has a Cane Corso pup named Rhino. Cooking is both his career and his outlet. When he feels overwhelmed, he turns to the kitchen. Outside of work, Dathan enjoys fishing and watching his sons play football.
