January 2025 Employee Spotlight: Alec, Maintenance team

What started out as a seasonal job during college turned into a full-time gig for Alec. For six years, he’s supported the Ohio Living Mount Pleasant maintenance team during summers and winters (school breaks), and he joined the team in a more permanent capacity during summer 2024.

The community’s maintenance team has a wide reach and helps most everyone at Ohio Living Mount Pleasant, including employees, residents and even family members of residents. Alec primarily works in the office fielding phone calls about various issues and distributing work orders to keep things moving along.

Resident needs can sometimes be hard to deal with, but those challenges often come with rewards. “When we complete a work order that is difficult or has difficulties attached to it, it’s meaningful to be thanked for our hard work,” Alec added.

On a personal note, Alec holds an associate degree in church ministries and lives nearby with his parents, brother and sister. He enjoys watching movies and playing games of any kind (video, card, board games, etc.). He is also looking for his special someone, so if you have any connections, he welcomes them!

For those considering a career in healthcare, Alec advised, “Learn how to care for and love the residents. If you don’t know how to work with and love people in all their forms, you won’t get very far.”
