This month, we’re glad to recognize Rita, one of our dedicated transportation drivers at Ohio Living Mount Pleasant. From medical appointments to errands, she aids healthcare and independent living residents with an array of transportation services in the Monroe area.
Rita’s journey began nearly 23 years ago when she started as a housekeeper on campus. A year later, a position opened up in transportation, and she’s been happily in the driver’s seat ever since.
“The most rewarding part of my job is meeting the residents,” shared Rita. “I enjoy talking to them on the way to their appointments and learning about their lives and families. They are like a second family; I care about them like my very own.”
Rita has been married to her husband, Kenny, for 25 years. Together they have a daughter and a son and are proud grandparents to three grandchildren, with a fourth on the way!
“If I had started working at another healthcare facility before coming here, I don’t think I would’ve stayed,” explained Rita, when asked why she’s stayed at Ohio Living Mount Pleasant so long. “The people I work with, and the residents, make this community the place I want to be.”
