Rebecca, a resident services coordinator, works closely with independent living residents from the moment they arrive at Ohio Living Mount Pleasant.
“The most rewarding part of my job is the connections and friendships I get to make daily with residents, family members and my co-workers,” Rebecca shared. “My favorite thing to do is join our residents in Café 210 for a meal whenever I can. We talk about their families and past careers. I've learned so much from them.”
The conversations go both ways. Rebecca enjoys sharing stories and photos of her children, and residents love keeping up with her family. If she's not in her office during mealtime, chances are you'll find her in Café 210 catching up with residents.
“I have the privilege of helping our community feel like home,” explained Rebecca. “From welcoming new residents and helping them transition into the community to coordinating programs or connecting residents with services, my goal is to enhance each person’s quality of life while also fostering meaningful relationships.”
Outside of work, Rebecca enjoys playing pickleball with her kids and hiking with her dogs. She also unwinds by binge watching her favorite shows, “Love Island” and “Below Deck.”
For anyone considering a career in healthcare, Rebecca recommends gaining firsthand experience through volunteering or shadowing a professional.
“This industry can be incredibly rewarding, but it is also demanding,” said Rebecca. “It takes compassion, teamwork, good communication and a willingness to keep learning to succeed in healthcare. Taking care of yourself and supporting your co-workers allows you to continue caring for others.”
