As server manager at Café 210 at Ohio Living Mount Pleasant, Cody leads the front-of-house team with a clear purpose. “My goal each day is to make sure our residents feel cared for and valued,” he shared. “When someone leaves the dining room smiling, that’s success.”
Cody has been part of the Ohio Living Mount Pleasant community for 12 years, growing from part-time server to service manager. While his role has evolved, his focus has remained steady.
“This work is about people," explained Cody. "Taking time to listen and really get to know someone makes all the difference. Hearing residents' stories and being part of their daily lives makes this more than a job. It feels meaningful.”
Outside of work, Cody values time with his two sisters and his five-year-old husky, Nala, who loves tug of war and chasing him around the yard. He also enjoys disc golf in the warmer months and playing video games with friends.
For those considering healthcare, Cody offers straight-forward advice. “Make sure you truly want to help others. It can be demanding, so communication and teamwork matter. You have to take care of yourself too, so you can continue showing up for others.”
