Jamie Stugmyer moved to Ohio Living Mount Pleasant in July 2024 after decades of family life and travel. She met her husband, John, while working at Armco in the early 1970s. They married in 1974 and had two daughters, Jill and Jena.
The couple relocated to Southern California in 1981 when John accepted a transfer to Hitco, an aerospace division of Armco. After eight years on the West Coast, they chose to return to Middletown, Ohio, to be closer to extended family.
Jamie began working at AAA in Middletown in 1991 as a travel consultant, a role she held for over 25 years. The position not only suited her skills and interests, but it also allowed her to travel extensively. She and John visited several countries across Europe, including Italy, Germany, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary and the Czech Republic. A highlight for the couple was visiting Salzburg and seeing filming locations from “The Sound of Music.” The couple also enjoyed a host of cruises, including trips to Alaska, the Southern Caribbean, Canada/New England and the Bahamas.
After retiring in 2017 and losing her husband in 2020, Jamie began planning her move to Ohio Living Mount Pleasant. She downsized significantly in 2023 and transitioned into the community the following summer.
On campus, she regularly participates in fitness classes, book club meetings, pottery activities and campus events. She appreciates the well-kept grounds and active lifestyle options.
“Don’t wait,” Jamie said to others considering a move. “Let go of what you don’t need and start enjoying the next chapter. Enjoy the new friendships you'll make here and make new memories. I have the best neighbors ever! They welcomed me with open arms, and we socialize quite often.”
